About the Role
Troy Design &Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the design, development, and validation of automotive electrical systems at Troy Design & Manufacturing (a wholly owned subsidiary of Ford Motor Company). This position involves hands-on wiring, diagnostics, and prototype testing in a Tier 2 OEM environment.
This would be a contract position through Pro Staff Services in conjunction with Troy Design & Manufacturing (a subsidiary of Ford).
Responsibilities
- Assemble, install, and perform functional and safety tests on wiring harnesses and electrical systems.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hardware issues during build, integration, and testing.
- Create, interpret, and update electrical schematics, prints, and documentation.
- Perform rework and repairs, including crimping, soldering, de-pinning, and reverse-engineering harnesses.
- Operate diagnostic equipment and record test results accurately.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards, company policies, and automotive quality requirements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve build and design issues.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.Minimum 5 years of electrical engineering or technician experience in the automotive industry.Experience working with Tier 2 automotive suppliers and OEM manufacturing environments.Proficiency in electrical troubleshooting, diagnostics, and wiring harness assembly.Strong understanding of electrical system design, schematics, and documentation.Skilled with hand / power tools, crimping, soldering, and diagnostic instruments.Basic program management to coordinate supplier and internal development to meet vehicle project timing.Prepare financial 2-pager documents for any new or updated PI commodities.Support FMEA (Failure Modes & Effect Analysis) : Reviewing wiring harness designs and identifying potential short circuits, connector issues, or insulation weaknesses that could cause system failure.Support DVP&R (Design Verification Plan & Report) : Participating in creating and executing test plans for vehicle lighting systems or harness assemblies to confirm compliance with OEM specifications.Work closely with the Release Engineer to provide updated schematics or test data for in the final released design package.Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Qualifications
Experience in Automotive Electrical Technology or related work.Experience with automotive lighting systems and components.Proficiency with Teamcenter or other PLM software.Knowledge of automotive quality standards and compliance requirements.Familiarity with ISO / TS quality systems and Tier 2 OEM standards.Valid driver's license.Benefits
