About US Income Tax Compliance

The US Income Tax Compliance team at Walmart is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of income tax compliance at the federal, state, and local levels. This team handles the preparation and filing of all income tax returns each year, as well as income tax accounting and periodic estimates for compliance and forecasting. The scale and scope of complexity of taxation at Walmart will attract individuals who are excited to navigate undefined challenges and engaged by intellectually stimulating work.

What You'll Do

• Prepare federal and state tax returns, forms, and reporting of operations by gathering financial data from business departments and divisions; analyze and incorporate data into returns; prepare work papers and supporting schedules, and leverage professional tax software to process financial and tax data
• Prepare federal and state tax estimates on a quarterly basis, or as needed
• Support tax accounting and reporting by preparing year-end provision calculations and assisting with SOX 404 documentation for tax accounting controls
• Influence tax compliance transformation by identifying and implementing tools that allow for continuous improvement and efficiency; and adapting to competing demands, organizational changes, and new responsibilities
• Partner with the tax controversy team by assisting with gathering information leading to issue resolutions within established timelines; working with management to respond to information requisitions; preparing data and reports to support state audit projects; and escalating potential exposure items to management
• Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulations by keeping current on changes in tax law; research and provide analysis on impacts of federal legislative matters; and identify and develop needed system or process changes to remain compliant with tax laws
• Support tax department training and development initiatives by assisting with team training sessions
• Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and support company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilize and support the Open Door Policy; and provide direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices
• Assist with special projects as necessary

What You'll Bring

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field and 2 years experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area OR 4 years experience in accounting, finance, income tax compliance, or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

Leading cross-functional projects, License to practice law in at least one state, Supervisory experience J.D., Masters : Accounting, Masters : Business, Masters : Economics, Masters : Finance, Masters : Law Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Certificate
