An independently owned and rapidly growing NYC bagel brand , founded in 2012 with one neighborhood shop, has since grown to nine thriving locations across Brooklyn and Manhattan . With exciting growth ahead, the ownership team is seeking a Culinary Operations Manager to help strengthen and streamline Back-of-House operations, ensuring every location maintains the same quality, efficiency, and soul that made the brand a local favorite. Think is like a multi-unit KItchen Manager.
The Role
This is a newly created leadership position designed for an experienced and hands-on culinary professional who thrives in an operational setting. The Culinary Operations Manager will oversee and support the kitchens across all stores, helping to standardize systems, improve consistency, and optimize menu execution .
The right person will bring both culinary knowledge and operational structure , ensuring every store runs smoothly while supporting the continued expansion of this beloved NYC brand.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and support BOH operations across all locations, ensuring strong systems and execution.
Develop and implement standard operating procedures to ensure consistency, quality, and efficiency.
Evaluate and refine the menu , working closely with ownership to optimize production while maintaining creativity.
Monitor food and labor costs , analyzing performance across all locations to identify areas for improvement.
Strengthen inventory control , purchasing systems, and vendor relationships.
Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety standards at all stores.
Provide leadership, training, and mentorship to kitchen teams to maintain strong performance and morale.
Serve as a bridge between ownership and the store-level teams, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
The Ideal Candidate
Background as a Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef, or Kitchen Manager in a multi-location or high-volume setting.
Deep understanding of BOH systems, cost control, and kitchen organization .
A hands-on leader who can balance strategy with day-to-day execution.
Highly organized, reliable, and proactive , with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Comfortable overseeing multiple stores and building consistent operational standards.
Spanish fluency is a strong plus for effective communication with team members.
Passionate about food, teamwork, and helping a beloved NYC brand continue to grow sustainably.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary : $85,000 – $95,000 base, plus performance-based bonus (quarterly or bi-annual).
Benefits : Healthcare coverage or healthcare credit (TBD), plus 2–3 weeks PTO .
Work Setup : Mix of on-site location visits and time at the Chelsea corporate office for planning, coordination, and team meetings.
