Overview
The Specialist, Donor Data and Communications at The J plays a vital role in ensuring the success of the organizations fundraising and stewardship efforts. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate and organized donor records, ensuring that all gifts are processed, tracked, and acknowledged in a timely and meaningful way. By managing the donor database and generating reports, the specialist provides critical insights that support fundraising strategies and decision-making. In addition, the role helps craft donor communications that express gratitude, highlight impact, and strengthen relationships with supporters. This combination of data management and communication ensures that every donor feels valued and connected to The Js mission.
Essential Functions
Enter, update, and manage donor and gift data in the CRM (Bloomerang) with accuracy and timeliness :
- Enter all donor data, including daily gift entry and acknowledgement letter distribution
- Perform regular audits and quality checks on donor records
- Create mailing lists, reports, and dashboards to support fundraising efforts
- Collaborate with the Philanthropy team to enhance donor recognition and acknowledgement process
- Support prospect research
- Participate in testing, reporting, and refining database processes
Execute a comprehensive donor acknowledgement process :
Requires both technical and interpersonal skills, managing other colleagues to stay on scheduleProvide support for ongoing donor engagement
Develop lists for mailingsLiaise between the Philanthropy department and other departments such as marketing or IT when necessaryPhone calls to donorsProvide administrative support to the Development Department
Requirements
Experience using databases, especially those used for donor stewardship and documentationExperience managing multiple projects with both short- and long-term deadlinesExcellent project management skillsExemplary customer service / interpersonal relationship skillsAble to think and adjust in stressful situations and solve problemsStrong written and verbal communication skillsOrganized and detail-orientedJob is located at The J in Overland Park, Kansas (not remote or hybrid)Physical Requirements
The ideal schedule for this 10-15 hour / week role is two to three hours a day, but must be present five days a week.About The J
