Pay Rate / Range $ 18.75-20.00 per hour

Employment Class : Full-time

Work Days : Monday through Friday with occasional weekend hours

Customary Hours : 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM with occasional evening hours

Position Summary (see program description below)

The Parent Educators primary role centers around implementing the Parents as Teachers Foundational Curriculum. The Parent Educator may be responsible to provide personal instruction, demonstrate appropriate educational activities; deliver research-based printed materials to parents regarding child development and related issues. To conduct child developmental screenings including but not limited to vision, hearing the understanding and use of language, motor development, hand-eye coordination, health and physical development for children birth to age five. To refer children and families to services as deemed necessary.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Become trained through the Parents as Teachers program
• Maintain appropriate certification as necessary to be Parents as Teachers qualified
• Attend state and national meetings as scheduled to continue professional development and stay abreast of program changes and criteria
• Work with the local system of care toward the design, implementation and evaluation of a model of care that is collaborative, participation oriented and that views parents and families as key in the service provision and safety of children who are at risk
• Work with existing community information and referral systems for parents and families to enhance accessibility
• Coordinate and / or provide services for up to 20 families
• Provide education materials for parents and families
• Demonstrate skills and sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic differences with respect to the population of Morgan County
• Adhere to all Morgan County Family Center Policies and Procedures
