District Maintenance Supervisor

Job Goals : Maintenance employees perform general duties in the daily maintenance and upkeep of all district facilities. To plan, organize and supervise the maintenance, repair and alteration of buildings, equipment and grounds and the custodial functions involved in the care of the buildings and grounds.
Job Functions :
- Work order from the school principals and administrative office for building and ground maintenance and construction work will be checked and reviewed in a timely manner.
- Trains and supervises workers; conducts evaluations.
- Performs seasonal maintenance and start-up operation of lawn equipment.
- Maintains cleanliness and safety of sidewalks, parking lots.
- A preventive maintenance program will be effectively initiated and implemented.
- Communicates with building administration to schedule field and ground maintenance.
- Operates and maintains all ground equipment.
- Removes brush, dead trees, and low hanging limbs.
- Trains workers on expectations, safe operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Maintains facility planning, beds and landscape areas.
- Researches and obtains pricing estimates on equipment and supplies. Makes recommendations for purchases.
- Orders and purchases supplies and equipment as directed. Maintains records of materials ordered or on hand and will be accurately kept.
- Conducts annual district and school site safety inspections in a timely manner.
- Performs repairs on playground equipment.
Ancillary Job Functions :
Fills in for lead custodian in their absencesTroubleshoots mechanical issues and performs maintenance on equipment as needed.Washes and cleans district equipment and trucks.Assists other maintenance / custodial employees as needed.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Qualifications :
High School diploma or GEDTroubleshooting abilityMust maintain a valid driver's licenseMaintains a valid CDLAbility to make independent decisions based on knowledge of district policies.Supervisory experienceDemonstrates computer skillsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Not all-inclusive, of those commonly associated with this position :
Ability to operate and repair trucks, cars, mowers and other necessary equipment.Ability to work independently with direct supervision.Ability to interact constructively with the public and staff at all levels.Ability to administer and receive constructive criticism.Ability to keep accurate records.Work Equipment :
May be required to work in confined spaces, hazardous traffic conditions.May be exposed to wet / humid conditions, inclement outdoor weather conditions, fumes / airborne particles, moving mechanical parts.Requires standing / walking on hard surfaces.Requires lifting up to 75 pounds.Physical Requirements :
Must be able to talk, hear, feel attributes of objects, grasp, push, stand / walk, drive, reach, stoop / kneel / crouch, climb / balance / operate mechanical equipment and move up and down from / to sitting position on the floor.Must have clarity of vision.Evaluation :
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
Salary Range : Salary is based on the Board approved salary schedule based on rank, certification, and experience. (Actual salary will be determined upon verification of experience.)
