Public Works Program Foreman
Under general supervision of Public Works Program Manager, the Public Works Program Foreman is responsible for overseeing daily work assignments and supervising of assigned crew in areas which aims to address illegal dumping issues and various maintenance on county roadways, easements, and culverts.

Education : High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
Experience : Three (3) years' of road maintenance experience.
Certification : Must possess a Class "A" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Tanker Endorsement (Endorsement can be acquired within 180 days).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities : Must be proficient in multi-tasking to meet deadlines provided. Must be proficient in using Microsoft 365 Office suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Ability to document activities both written and electronic; utilize work order management system. Ability to work in a professional manner with all levels of management, staff, and public. Knowledgeable of leadership skills, principles, methods, practices, materials, equipment, traffic control and tools used in road & drainage maintenance operations. Knowledgeable of Harris County specifications and bandit sign policies.

Position Type and Typical Hours of Work : Full-time | Regular. 40 hours a week | Day or Night Shift | Hours may vary based on business needs of the department and some weekend, evening hours or holidays may be required during special events. Situations may require additional hours without prior notice. Required to work on-site during an emergency event.

Work Environment and Physical Demands : Work is on active construction sites involving pervasive hazards associated with heavy equipment and tool operations; speeding traffic; loud and constant noise; and regular exposure to chemicals, dust, fumes, and combustible materials. Required to work outdoors on varied and often unstable terrain involving exposure to varying weather conditions of extreme hot and cold temperatures. Some working conditions require special precautions and the use of protective gear (e.g., hard hats, respirator masks, gloves, etc.).
Essential functions involve significant physical demands related to repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds unassisted, 100 pounds with assistance rarely; carrying tools, materials, and equipment over rough terrain; climbing, reaching and bending. Frequently required to walk, sit, talk, drive, hear, bend, stoop, twist, and balance; need the ability to occasionally kneel and crawl; need the ability to grasp manual controls and the ability to use foot controls and operate gas, diesel, and electrically powered equipment.
