Overview
The Transportation Engineering Technician will report to the District Construction Office and work in District 2 which consists of Cabell, Lincoln, Logan, Wayne and Mingo counties. Performs full-performance duties associated with highway and bridge construction and maintenance, including planning, design, surveys, materials, construction inspection, utility placement and relocation, traffic operations, and bridge safety. Participates in a training program requiring 180 Technician Development Hours.
Required Training / Education
Substitution : (New Hires Only)
- Certification as a Transportation Engineering Technician by the West Virginia Transportation Engineering Technician Certification Board.
- Successful completion of thirty (30) semester hours of study in engineering technology from a regionally accredited college or university, plus five (5) years of full-time or the equivalent part-time paid experience in a technical capacity in a civil engineering environment may be substituted for the required training / education.
- OR
- Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a major in civil engineering technology, plus three (3) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience in a technical capacity in a civil engineering environment may be substituted for the required training / education.
- OR
- Bachelor's degree in engineering , engineering technology, or similar technical degree from an accredited college or university may be substituted for the required training / education.
