Overview
The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist at Universal Studios Hollywood is responsible for advancing workplace safety and environmental health initiatives while supporting multiple departments across the theme park and CityWalk. This position plays an integral role in the development and continuous improvement of various safety programs, including compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a strong safety culture. Responsibilities include conducting detailed risk assessments to identify potential hazards, ensuring proper implementation of Lock Out Tag Out protocols, and supporting successful project completion checklists to ensure seamless commissioning and turnover upon project completion. In addition to these technical aspects, the EHS Specialist maintains thorough documentation, prepares reports, and participates in project meetings to support construction projects. Collaboration with business partners is a key part of the job, as the specialist works to create preventive action plans based on trend analysis and performance metrics, driving measurable improvements in safety outcomes. Reviewing new equipment, processes, or job roles to mitigate environmental and health risks is another critical function, helping to minimize impact and promote safer operations. Moreover, the EHS Specialist is engaged in major projects and new initiatives across all areas of Universal Studios Hollywood, contributing to the evolution of safety practices and enhancing the overall wellbeing of employees and guests. Through a proactive approach, strategic planning, and hands-on engagement, this role is essential in reinforcing the company core value of "Making Safety a Priority".
