Overview : Responsibilities :
- Provide legal and strategic advice and counsel to internal clients and legal colleagues on a range of employment issues, including, compensation and benefits, performance management, reorganizations, accommodations and leaves of absence, wage and hour law, contingent workforce, and ethics issues.
- Assist with legal research and strategy regarding employment litigation, in support of the litigation team members. Handle attorney demand letters, administrative charges, and oversee outside counsel on same, where applicable.
- Drive and support on cross-functional projects to improve our employment policies and practices to ensure compliance with business objectives and federal, state and local laws.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including vendor agreements, partnership agreements, BAAs, and confidentiality agreements.
- Review and update contract templates and user terms in light of legal developments and the evolution of the companys operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including finance, procurement, privacy and security and operations, to support business objectives through effective vendor contract review and management.
- Review advertising and promotional materials across all forms of content to monitor for marketing and regulatory issues.
- Proactively identify and assess potential legal and / or reputational risk in support of business partners and recommend practical, creative solutions that balance legal risk with business impact.
- Assist on overall transition from Penney Op Co to Catalyst Brands; additional generalist legal responsibilities
