Job Description
The Commercial Electrical division focuses on large-scale commercial, retail, institutional, office, mixed-use, and industrial facilities—delivering complete electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, controls, and low-voltage integration services for new construction, renovations, and tenant fit-outs.
As an Assistant Project Manager, you will support the Project Manager and field teams in coordinating, tracking, and executing commercial electrical projects to ensure successful completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Position Summary
The Assistant Project Manager assists in all phases of commercial electrical projects—from pre construction to closeout—by managing coordination, procurement tracking, scheduling, cost control, and project documentation. This role acts as a bridge between engineering, field operations, subcontractors, and clients, helping to maintain workflow efficiency and project transparency.
Requirements
Project Support & Coordination
Assist in developing and maintaining detailed project schedules and milestone tracking.
Support procurement and delivery tracking for materials and equipment.
Coordinate between electrical field operations, other trades, design teams, and client representatives.
Prepare and maintain submittal logs, RFI logs, change order logs, and meeting minutes.
Attend project meetings and ensure all follow-up actions are completed.
Support field supervision and subcontractor coordination.
Cost Tracking & Financial Support
Assist in preparing and maintaining project budgets and forecasts.
Review subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and material receipts for accuracy.
Track job costs, productivity, and material usage.
Support monthly progress billing and reporting processes.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
Assist in implementing quality control procedures and ensuring work meets contract specifications.
Help monitor compliance with NEC, local codes, and safety regulations.
Maintain safety documentation and coordinate with field supervision on safety initiatives.
Documentation & Closeout
Maintain organized digital and physical project files, including drawings, submittals, and O&M manuals.
Support project punch list completion, final inspections, and client turnover.
Assist in preparing closeout packages, warranties, and as-built documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
Required :
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
2–5 years of experience in construction or electrical contracting, preferably in commercial work.
Familiarity with electrical drawings, specifications, and submittal processes.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, and scheduling tools such as MS Project or Primavera.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced project environment.
Preferred :
Experience with large commercial, retail, or institutional projects.
Knowledge of job costing, progress billing, and cost control systems.
OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
Interest in obtaining PMP or similar project management certification.
Working Conditions
