Summary
In this role, you will integrate safety and health requirements into complex project planning, design, and operations to reduce the potential for adverse impacts. You will perform risk assessments, provide input on bid decisions, lead meetings and communications, and track and monitor performance trends. Your recommendations will contribute to enhanced quality of safety procedures and work processes.
Responsibilities
- Assists execution of the safety component of an ESH Program inclusive of technical and administrative aspects.
- Helps prepare and implement Safety and Health Management Plans, associated plans and procedures, and training program.
- Provides input to Engineering, Construction, Procurement, Subcontracts, Commissioning, and other groups to assure that safety and health requirements are integrated within project planning and execution.
- Interprets safety and health requirements and provides comprehensive assistance on plan preparation, risk assessment, and ESH program execution.
- Researches moderately complex issues and regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports.
- Provides support and guidance for safety studies, risk assessments, and program reviews and audits.
- Participates in emergency response and incident investigation and resolution.
- Interfaces and communicates with stakeholders and helps resolve their concerns.
- Participates in meetings with customers, team members, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Conducts ESH inspections and monitoring to identify hazards and risks, evaluate controls and corrective actions, and assess compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Bechtel requirements.
Required
Requires a Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) related to occupational safety or health and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experienceRequired Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSpecialized knowledge in a safety specialty (e.G., Personal Protective Equipment, lockout / tagout, fall protection, excavation, People Based Safety) or engineering (e.G., civil, process safety, mechanical) or related disciplines.Knowledge of safety management, monitoring programs, principles, and methodologies.Knowledge of safety and health laws and regulations and applicable agencies’permitting processes and responsibilities.Knowledge of engineering, construction, and subcontract work processes.Skilled in oral and written communication and knowledge of computer applications.Bachelor of Science degree in a specialized scientific field (e.G., safety, industrial engineering, public health) or process / mechanical engineering and / or some practical work experience in the discipline performing the responsibilities listed above.Bilingual required (Spanish / English)Additional Information
Work requires the physical ability to conduct field inspections including but not limited to : extensive walking in and around a construction site often in high heat and high humidity conditions, climbing ladders, climbing scaffolding, working on elevated platforms, working on uneven surfaces, and working in small or confined spaces. Some lifting may be required. Must have the ability to walk into and out of the project (enter / egress). Must be able to use appropriate standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.E. Harness, life vest, lift buckets, etc.). Must be willing to work a flexible schedule as required that may include but not limited to nightshift or split shift.
