Position Summary

Scoopers at Salt & Straw create happiness through moments of wonder by offering unparalleled guest experiences. They guide guests on taste adventures, sampling and scooping ice cream while narrating the journey to create OMG moments and uphold Salt & Straw’s legendary hospitality.

Essential Functions

• Interact with guests with patience, positivity, and enthusiasm from arrival to checkout to ensure a memorable experience.
• Maintain knowledge of Salt & Straw’s brand, production techniques, ingredient partnerships, and flavor profiles to educate guests and offer informed recommendations.
• Scoop servings in line with shop standards, often in shifts of 1-2 hours.
• Process transactions using the POS system, handle cash, and provide correct change.
• Prepare, label, and store waffle batter; operate the waffle iron; label and store cones; maintain a clean front-of-house waffle station.
• Adhere to shop, food quality, and safety standards; clean and organize spaces including floors, walls, bathrooms, and freezers.
• Restock and replenish retail products, freezers, paper goods, batter, cones, and supplies.
• Consolidate ice cream tubs and temper tubs correctly; manage third-party delivery orders per company standards.
• Answer phones and provide excellent service for product inquiries.
• Greet guests, manage line flow, explain shop options, and promote online ordering and pint purchases.
• Taste / sample a scoop daily to help communicate flavor recommendations.

Qualifications

Valid food handlers' card (required within 30 days of employment or per local requirements). Experience in food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Ability to discuss classic and seasonal flavors, excellent communication, and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences. Ability to work with diverse teams, stay positive under pressure, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. English fluency required. Availability to work evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays; minimum 3 shifts per week including 2 closing shifts.
