The New York Times is expanding its video journalism, identifying compelling visual stories across our reporting. We showcase the expertise of Times journalists on-camera, share urgent news updates, produce on-the-ground reporting, pioneering Visual Investigations, and video podcasts.
We are looking for an experienced manager and video journalist to lead a versatile team of video journalists creating groundbreaking, short-form digital journalism. You will oversee work that ranges from breaking news and enterprise to Reporter Videos, investigations and interactives. You have experience managing editorial and technical crews in the field in dynamic, fast-moving and hostile news environments, and you can drive stories and anticipate which news events warrant deployment.
You will collaborate with the Washington, D.C. bureau to cover the current administration while managing a team of field producers who regularly deploy for urgent breaking news and short-form enterprise. You should have impeccable news judgment and the ability to work autonomously to identify critical stories, vet reporting, and structure powerful video on and off platform.
You are a strong leader who motivates teams, collaborates across desks, and innovates. You will work with The Times’ D.C.-based leadership to drive video coverage. This is an in-office position based in Washington, D.C. or New York City with regular attendance in the office four days per week; some remote flexibility may be available per departmental guidance.

The annual base pay range for this role is between $145,000 - $170,000 USD.
