Staff Accountant

We are looking for a skilled Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Overland Park, Kansas. This role is essential in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting daily and monthly accounting operations, and ensuring compliance with reporting standards. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities include :

Recording general ledger entries and reconciling accounts during the monthly close process, adhering to established timelines.

Scanning and depositing checks received at corporate locations, accurately preparing journal entries to reflect these transactions.

Analyzing sales tax postings, reclassifying invoices to ensure proper recovery and compliance.

Preparing daily liquidity reports summarizing company-wide cash balances and outstanding checks to provide an accurate view of cash positions.

Creating purchase orders for legal expenses, managing approvals and processing invoices through established systems.

Assisting with the preparation of statutory and census reports, ensuring compliance with governmental requirements.

Validating vendor changes, such as bank details, by collecting necessary documentation, confirming information, and submitting updates to the master data team.

Supporting audit processes by compiling data and responding to interim and year-end audit requests from external auditors.

Requirements include a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, at least 1-2 years of experience in corporate accounting within a medium to large organization, proficiency in accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and month-end close processes, familiarity with SAP or similar enterprise resource planning systems, strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines, knowledge of bank reconciliations and journal entry preparation, and attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining financial accuracy.
