WMTV 15 News is hiring a weekday News Producer who will create, coordinate, and showcase content for our on‑air newscasts and digital platforms. The producer will cross‑train to produce content for the website, streaming desk, and social media and must be an innovator with a keen eye for detail.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Work closely with the News Director and Executive Producer to execute a digital‑first strategy across all platforms.
- Research, write, and publish copy daily for television, WMTV15News.com, and social media.
- Identify opportunities for live streaming on the website and push alerts to extend reach.
- Select and place stories in the rundown in line with journalistic, editorial standards and brand pillars.
- Understand local markets and key target audiences.
- Produce engaging, error‑free work with strong attention to detail.
- Collaborate professionally with newsroom colleagues to enhance viewer experience.
Qualifications / Requirements
College degree in journalism or related field, and at least one year of newsroom or digital producing experience.Strong research skills and critical thinking; ability to dig beyond press releases.Excellent time‑management and multitasking under deadline pressure.Established presence on digital platforms, including social media.Working knowledge of digital content management systems (CMS) and platforms such as ARC, Social News Desk, and Taboola.Proficiency with Photoshop is a plus.Adherence to AP Style and strong written and verbal communication skills.Flexibility to work different hours and shifts as needed.Gray Media provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics.
