JOB SUMMARY :

The CO / Transport Tech II is responsible for providing technical support of preventive and remedial maintenance to all network-switching elements. This position works with the digital access cross connect system, toll and subscriber carrier systems, fiber optic systems and call switching for other companies, MPLS systems, CWDM, DWDM installation, turn-up and testing. Other duties include turning up special circuits and alarm installation and surveillance of all local and remote equipment, assisting with after-hours maintenance schedules including MOPS and coordinating with other departments to achieve specific goals and project completion, working directly with facilities management group on AC, DC, UPS, HVAC, and GENARATOR Plant for installation and maintenance activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES : (include but are not limited to)

• Accountable for operational functionality and up-time and outage recovery
• Strategically obtains operational data regarding DC plant service life and replacement schedule
• Masters processes for service orders, job orders, material requisitions
• Reports quality control issues with plan for root cause items
• Represents Central Office and Transport Operations Groups
• Efficiently plans work schedules with consideration to deadlines
• Meets due dates for service orders and project schedules and completion times

KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS :

Strong technical background in telecommunications, DATA, Transport, Power Plants, HVAC

Microsoft Office skills including Power point, Excel, and Word

Strong organizational and communication skills required (verbal and written)

Identifies and diagnoses issues to ensure achievement of goals

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with procedures established by the company.

Qualifications & Prerequisites

Required :

Minimum of 7 years' experience with telecommunications, C.O., transport environment

Must be able to react to out of service situations with direct and remote interaction at all times

Must have a valid chauffeur's driver's license

Preferred :

High school

College or equivalent experience with company approved certifications.
