Responsibilities
- This position will implement developmental programming for the Upward Bound Madison County and supervise part time student support. Provide personal, academic, and career counseling and conduct weekly group sessions.
- Assists the Project Director for Upward Bound Madison County in developing and coordinating students' education plans for the program students. Provides personal, academic and career counseling; develops activities which promote education. Assists with the recruitment of program participants, develops policies for administering assessment tests. Ensures that all services are in line with the objectives of the Upward Bound Program grant and federal regulations.
- Contribute to the implementation of the most effective recruitment, retention and reporting / tracking policies and procedures. Conducts research on academic and personal needs of the programs 60 students while obtaining and evaluating students' grade and progress. This position is responsible for establishing and marinating a strong relationship with Madison County High School counselors teachers, administrators and parents.
- Supervises OPS staff related to mentoring or implementation of activities that support student success.
- Serves as a liaison between the Upward Bound Program and the Madison community, including the partner school administration and staff, participants families, and local businesses.
Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree and two years of experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. (Note : a combination of post high school education and experience equal to six years.)Ability to travel to Madison, FL is required multiple days per month. Transportation is provided and you will return to Tallahassee within the same day.Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with high school students and youth between the ages of 14 and 18.Experience with programming and event planning.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, supervisors, and interdepartmental personnel.Ability to interpret and explain program policies and procedures to students, parents, faculty, and staff.Attention to detail and the highest standard of integrity are imperative.Excellent computer, creative problem-solving, written, and communication skills are essential.Must have the unique ability to deal with people calmly, confidently, and with complete objectivity.Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.Knowledge of principles and practices of academic program planning, development, and evaluation.Experience with Microsoft Office programs.Basic office experience, including filing practices.Experience must be related to the duties of the position, i.e., Communication, computer skills, and policy knowledge.Ability to handle sensitive data in a professional manner.Contact Info
