This is a paid freelance and remote position.
ScreenRant is the #1 entertainment website and publishes up-to-the-minute news on blockbuster movies, TV shows, video games, comic books, music and other forms of entertainment. As a worldwide leader, ScreenRant operates at a rapid pace and is always looking for experienced and passionate contributors who can create original high-quality content in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
- Core responsibility is in sourcing news in a timely fashion
- Adding news titles and sources to asana for writers to claim
- Understanding of what makes a good news title / angle
- Making judgements on what is flash news vs news vs something to spike to features
- Ensuring news quotas are hit - understanding the times when it is appropriate to overrun, and when news can be passed on / passed to features
- Assigning news articles / communicating with writers on news assignments
- Editing news articles and prioritizing most timely edits
- Writing news articles when needed (especially when fastest turnaround is required on breaking news)
- Attending weekly team meetings
