We offer individuals services, resources, and the tools they need to end their homelessness, secure housing, and maintain that housing. Each year, we assist more than 5,000 people experiencing poverty, hunger and / or homelessness.

Job Description : The Director of Shelter Programs role is a strategic management and supervisory position that is an integral component in Share's operations and program administration. The Shelter Director is responsible for the overall operations for Share's two shelters the men's shelter at Share House and the women's shelter known as the WHAT (Women's Housing and Transition) including program planning, program administration, resource allocation, program reporting, internal accounting, external reporting, compliance monitoring, and human resources of their specific program(s).
Program Planning (25%)
- Support shelter programs by ensuring they are collaborative and in-line with the strategic plan
- Lead efforts to maximize effectiveness, by analyzing workflows and making positive changes
Program Administration (20%)
Collaborate with the Compliance and Equity Manager to ensure that programs are in-line with contract goals and expectationsCollaborate with Data and Operations Manager to examine program data ensuring that outcomes are equitable and that all clients are given the tools they need to be successful by examining data of positive and negative outcomes as well as bans and disciplinary actionsCollaborate with program senior directors, owners of the buildings, Share's maintenance and Share's office manager to ensure that the physical buildings in which Share's programs operate are safe and functioning.Work with People and Culture Director and program directors to support retention and celebration of workplace wins.Serve as the backup when program staff are on vacation, ill, or when a position is vacant.Hold monthly program meetings to aid with collaboration; invite supervisor to at least one of these meetings per month.Resource Allocation (10%)
Support program directors in adhering to their budgetsCommunicate with Senior leadership around funding needs and wants of the sheltersAssign technology, facility, and other resources in accordance with program goals, objectives, guidelines, and requirementsProgram Reporting (5%)
Prepare program performance measures, reports, strategic plan updates, or other updates as required or requestedInternal Accounting (10%)
Support Date and Operations manager in ensuring HMIS data has been entered appropriately and conduct monthly reconciliationComplete needed internal documents / forms to bill for reimbursement of expensesEnsure that program staff are trained on needed accounting documentation and are submitting accurate data in a timely manner.Complete needed internal documents / forms to authorize and reconcile purchases made on behalf of programs supervisedExternal Reporting (5%)
Prepare externally mandated or required reports, forms, documents as needed or requestedProvide verbal and written updates to program funders as needed or requested for program supervisedRespond to inquiries about programs supervisedCompliance Monitoring (15%)
Implement and integrate grant and program requirements into program operationsRespond to client solution requestsReview client solution requests, satisfaction surveys, and incident reports for themes and needed adjustments or changes on a quarterly basisAdjust and align program operations to ensure congruence with compliance requirementsTake action when a non-compliant activity or situation is identified to bring the program back into compliance. Report noncompliance and action steps to executive director.Human Resources (10%)
Assess training needs of program staffLook for gaps in training then either provide training or bring in outside trainers to ensure staff learning is appropriatePerform program onboarding of new staffProvide coaching, support and if necessary, disciplinary actionConduct performance evaluation in a timely mannerAddress performance concerns in a timely and effective mannerQualifications :
Undergraduate degree in a related field or equivalent experienceThree years of program management experienceThree years of supervisory experiencePreferred Qualifications :
