About The Role
ARC is looking for an Operations Engineer I to join our team. In this role, you will support (including Tier 1 support), monitor, and administer ARC's resources & applications. You will ensure monitoring is appropriately configured and functioning for all ARC systems and applications. Additionally, you will review resource data and work with Operations Engineer II and Data Engineers to identify proper incident response and escalation. This role will provide assistance and guidance in setting up and using enterprise tools, e.g. Datadog, Jira and ServiceNow.
What You'll Do
- Provide 1st tier support for ARC's 24x7 systems and applications monitoring. Triage and escalating incidents discovered through automated tools or reported by customers.
- Work as incident scribe during Sev1 / Sev2 incidents to ensure all essential artifacts are collected and reported to enable retrospective reviews to promote continuous improvement.
- Apply experience and skills to complete various work orders assigned to group with minimal supervision.
- Primary contact for datacenter facilities. Includes performing / scheduling weekly, monthly, and annual PM and DR tests.
- Execute SOPs defined by POD, Enterprise, or Operations Engineering team and aid in maintaining documentation for operational readiness.
- Leverage analytical and technical skills to provide event correlation using real-time monitoring data to ensure cohesive support between cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science preferred; equivalent work experience consideredPreference will be given to candidates with exposure to mainframe environments and system job scheduling / monitoring tools (e.g., CA-7, Control-M, or equivalent)2 years of systems administration knowledge (Linux / Windows) is a plusBasic understanding of job logs, batch processing, and willingness to learn incident response processes in enterprise environments is desirableFunctional knowledge of AWSFunctional knowledge of monitoring tools such as Datadog, CloudHealth, Wug, and the Atlassian SuiteGeneral knowledge of networking concepts, virtualization concepts, operating system internals, configuration management and system managementAbility to discover and define non-functional requirements and to transform them into technical requirements and solution definitionGood communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiencesA strong intellectual curiosity to continually challenge what exists and explore what should be changed to best meet evolving business and marketA passion for continual improvement and a willingness to work with others to improve24 / 7 / 365 Data Center, with shift work.
