Job Summary :
The Assistant Director of Rehabilitation (Assistant DOR) supports the Director of Rehabilitation in managing and supervising the rehabilitation department, including physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech-language pathology services. This role combines clinical care with leadership responsibilities to ensure effective service delivery, regulatory compliance, and high-quality outcomes for residents.
Key Responsibilities :
Assist the DOR in daily operations of the rehab department, including scheduling, staff oversight, and clinical coordination.
Provide direct patient care within professional scope (PT, OT, or SLP) as needed.
Monitor therapy staff performance and support professional development and training initiatives.
Ensure accurate, timely documentation and adherence to facility, state, and federal policies.
Help manage departmental productivity and ensure appropriate utilization of therapy services.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (nursing, social work, dietary, etc.) for resident-centered care planning.
Participate in quality assurance programs and audits to ensure clinical excellence and compliance.
Serve as acting DOR in their absence.
Assist with onboarding, mentoring, and evaluating new or current therapy staff.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment.
Qualifications :
Licensed Physical Therapist (PT), Occupational Therapist (OT), or Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) in the state of Minnesota.
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a skilled nursing facility or long-term care setting.
Previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge of CMS regulations, PDPM, MDS, and therapy documentation standards.
Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
Proficient in therapy software and electronic health records.
