Are you a skilled multi-tasker with a passion for working in a fast paced yet supportive team environment? SunSource, a leader in the distribution of Fluid Power components and services for the industrial and mobile markets currently has an opening for a Transportation Manager based out of the Corporate Headquarters in Addison, IL.

This is a critical role with responsibilities that includes finding cost savings, freight spend / recovery analysis and developing relationships with our corporate partners & associates.

The primary purpose of this position is to lead the company's transportation activities; this includes execution of policy, managing & reviewing spend / recovery of all inbound, inter-company, and outbound shipments using our freight bill pay / audit software and ERP.

Essential Functions

• Lead efforts to establish standardized freight processes, policies, metrics, systems, and procedures throughout the organization.
• Determine optimal policies and procedures to maximize freight recovery and efficiency.
• Identify Spend, Freight Recovery, Carrier Performance / Routing, Accurate invoice auditing.
• Improve strategies to reduce freight expenses while providing best in class delivery performance
• Design carrier standards for performance and expectations.
• Work with distribution, purchasing, and customer service leadership to guarantee policy conformance and carrier compliance to maximize freight agreements.
• Review and approve freight bill exceptions using freight bill pay and audit software
• Utilize freight bill pay and audit software to produce freight reports and analysis.
• Reviewing transportation spend data & develop analysis reporting.
• Analyze assessorial charges (both small parcel and LTL) and find ways to reduce expenses.
