Responsibilities Work in a 4-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU) within an acute care setting Patient population includes COVID pneumonia, post-op ortho and urology patients, COPD, CHF, older adults, and typical MedSurg ICU cases RN to patient ratio is typically 1 : 4, with one Patient Care Tech (PCT) per shift All standard ICU drips managed, including use of 6 ventilators for intubated and vasopressor-dependent patients 12-hour night shifts with every other weekend required; shifts run 1845-0715 Charge RN for MedSurg is included in staffing and may take patient assignments EMR system is EpicCare Inpatient; experience with Epic preferred Unit equipped with Phillips hard-wired cardiac monitors and a central monitoring station No IV team; pharmacy available in-house for 8 hours daylight, with additional remote support Floating to MedSurg may occasionally occur if comfortable, but no floating outside of ICU otherwise Collaborate closely with hospitalist and intensivist physicians who are in house seven days a week, with nurse practitioner coverage at night Pharmacy, RT, and PCT support provided, contributing to a multidisciplinary team approach Expect participation in the permanent staff holiday rotation Orientation provided with 1-2 shifts alongside a preceptor Scrub attire of any color is permitted First-time travelers will be considered based on experience and qualifications Requirements Active WV or compact RN license required Minimum of 2 years recent ICU nursing experience required Current BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA), and NIHSS certifications required Completion of Epic system charting orientation preferred Must provide unexpired driver’s license for consideration Applicants must live more than 50 miles from facility; no local travelers accepted Former permanent staff from Potomac Valley, Princeton Community, or Garrett Regional are not eligible to return as travelers Those who previously worked within the health system must have a 2-year break before reapplying Travelers may not work within the health system for more than one year consecutively; then a two-year break is required EKG competency testing may be required as part of onboarding Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts American Traveler Job ID P-619305.
