Property Assistant

Job Title : Property Assistant

Program : Casa Quezada, Supportive Housing Program

Reports to : Program Manager

Compensation : $22-$25 per hour, commensurate with experience. Full-time, non-exempt. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, life insurance, 401(k) with employer match, flexible spending account, commuter benefits, and generous vacation, including Summer and Winter Recess.

About the Program

Casa Quezada is a 52-unit supportive housing program for formerly unhoused individuals, many of whom are monolingual Spanish-speaking immigrants or have transitioned from shelter or street-based living. Residents receive on-site case management, clinical services, daily meals, and community-building support.

Position Summary

The Property Assistant ensures the day-to-day functioning of the site, supporting both the tenants and staff with a focus on safety, dignity, and stability. This position provides property oversight, supports documentation and compliance, and helps maintain healthy building operations. The Property Assistant serves as a key point of continuity and may step into decision-making or liaison duties when the Program Manager is unavailable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Property and Facility Oversight

  • Support daily operations of the site, ensuring a safe and respectful housing environment.
  • Maintain logs, data, and incident reports; ensure files and documentation are accurate and timely.
  • Perform unit inspections; monitor housekeeping and building conditions.
  • Participate in emergency response, conflict de-escalation, and site security practices.
  • Communicate with maintenance staff, service providers, and partners to ensure coordination of repairs and tenant support needs.
  • Assist in scheduling pest control inspections and follow-up services as needed .

Occupancy and Compliance

  • Process new move-ins, including lease agreements, tenant orientations, and income certifications.
  • Collect and log rent payments; support tenants with payment plans and notices, as applicable.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for re-certifications, lease renewals, and rent changes.
  • Monitor tenant compliance with lease agreements and building rules; issue notices or coordinate team-based support strategies as needed.
  • Support grievance meetings, documentation reviews, and eviction proceedings in partnership with the Program Manager.
  • Community Engagement and Support

  • Attend resident meetings and support community-building activities.
  • Respond to tenant concerns and service requests with empathy and efficiency.
  • Model respectful communication and uphold a trauma-informed, culturally relevant approach.
  • Collaborate with onsite case management and community partners to support resident wellness.
  • Administrative and Team Functions

  • Maintain accurate logs, tenant files, and property records.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and cross-program collaboration.
  • Provide backup coverage for the Program Manager during scheduled or unscheduled absences, including attending funder meetings or service coordination calls.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture rooted in equity, compassion, and accountability.
  • Qualifications and Core Competencies

  • Experience in housing operations, community services, property management, or related fields and / or equivalent lived experience navigating housing systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively across language and cultural differences; Spanish fluency preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including de-escalation and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with housing quality standards, rent collection, tenant rights, and related policies preferred.
  • Comfort with Microsoft Office and basic database entry; willingness to learn new systems.
