Fire Safety Inspector
The Lee County Port Authority is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Fire Safety Inspector to join our team at the Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) and Page Field (FMY). This is an opportunity to play a vital role in protecting passengers, staff, and our airports by conducting fire safety inspections, enforcing codes and regulations, and assisting with fire prevention programs across our airports. The ideal candidate is thorough, dependable, and committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety within an aviation environment.
Minimum Qualifications
- A valid Florida Class D Non-Commercial driver license
- A high school diploma or a General Education Degree (GED).
- A current Florida State Certified Fire Inspector license
- Must meet minimum standards in F.S. 633
- Two years of experience responsible for conducting fire safety inspections, fire prevention, or fire safety compliance
Preferred Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Public Safety, or Emergency Management3 - 5 years of experience in conducting fire safety inspectionsKnowledge of Federal Airport Aviation Administration (FAA), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations applicable to airport fire safetyDuties and Responsibilities
Conduct inspections on all new construction and remodeling, and renovation projects to ensure compliance with fire safety codes and regulationsPromote and encourage fire-safe practices among airport tenants through education and collaborationDemonstrate strong organizational report-writing, and record-keeping skills to ensure thorough and compliant documentationCommunicate effectively and demonstrate a commitment to maintain positive, cooperative relationships with LCPA staff, airport tenants, and agenciesParticipate in departmental training programs related to fire safety operationsAttend meetings, seminars, and workshops to enhance professional knowledge, skills, and certifications relevant to this roleUnder the direction of the Fire Chief, assist in the development and revision of departmental policies and procedures, and General Orders
