The role of Director, Associate General Counsel, Privacy is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing international legal team working on unique legal issues at the forefront of the adtech industry in a vibrant, fast-paced environment. You will bepart of a global company that is building the critical, privacy-focused technologies which will replace third party cookies and build a trusted advertising ecosystem for the open internet.

What you'll do :

As a talented, self-motivated, and experienced attorney that is excited by taking on complex legal projects, you will be able to exercise sound, independent legal judgment in high-stakes circumstances. You will be both professionally and personally engaged in keeping up to date with the ever-changing data governance landscape related to advertising technology globally.

The main focus of this role will be to work on the company's data governance program. You will also act as the main legal advisor for our Information Security team. This is a global role covering both North America and Europe, with high opportunity for growth for the right candidate.

You will help maintain, design and implement internal and external processes and policies that ensure the company stays up to date with its global data governance obligations :

• Draft and maintain external data privacy disclosures (such as privacy policies and other public data compliance / security statements) as well as internal privacy documentation (DPIAs, ROPAs, LIAs) pertaining to our data processing activities.
• Work collaboratively with Information Security, Trust & Safety, and other cross-functional data teams to identify opportunities to enhance our internal legal policies for how the company manages personal data, and draft and maintain those policies (such as data retention, cross-border data transfers, data access controls).
• Counsel our Product team on associated data compliance product designs (such as data access / deletion and opt-out tools).
• Help build and standardize internal information sharing and record-keeping workflows with respect to personal data being processed by the company, in close collaboration with your other privacy and data governance colleagues, product counsel, and commercial data attorneys (as well as our DPO and cross-functional teams).

You will also be responsible for legally supporting our Information Security team on all personal data-related matters, such as advising on data breach and incident response policies, providing ongoing legal support on data incident management, and helping review SOC1 / SOC2 certification submissions and other external security statements.

Who you are :

Education : J.D. degree from ABA accredited law school.

Bar : Must be a member in good standing of an applicable state.

Experience :

Familiarity with legal issues impacting the digital advertising ecosystem is preferred.

The actual amount may differ based on non-discriminatory factors such as experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location. All employees may be eligible to become The Trade Desk shareholders through eligibility for stock-based compensation grants, which are awarded to employees based on company and individual performance. The Trade Desk also offers other compensation depending on the role such as sales-based incentives and commissions. Plus, expected benefits for this role include comprehensive healthcare (medical, dental, and vision) with premiums paid in full for employees and dependents, retirement benefits such as a 401k plan and company match, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance, well-being benefits, reimbursement for certain tuition expenses, parental leave, sick time of 1 hour per 30 hours worked, vacation time for full-time employees up to 120 hours thru the first year and 160 hours thereafter, and around 13 paid holidays per year. At the Trade Desk, Base Salary is one part of our competitive total compensation and benefits package and is determined using a salary range. The base salary range for this role is $201,100—$368,700 USD
