Executive Director, Payer Accounts
Immatics is seeking an Executive Director, Payer Accounts, to join our Commercial team. This role will lead the strategic development and execution of U.S. payer engagement initiatives for our pre-commercial portfolio, with a primary focus on securing timely, appropriate, and sustainable access to anzu-cel, our investigational TCR-T cell therapy initially in development for late-stage cutaneous melanoma.
Reporting to the Vice President, Global Market Access and Government Affairs, the Executive Director will serve as a key member of the Market Access Senior Leadership Team. The role will build and manage a national team of payer account directors responsible for cultivating and maintaining relationships with national and regional commercial and government payers, as well as select integrated delivery systems.
This leader will drive cross-functional collaboration and external partnerships to ensure patient-centered access strategies in preparation for Immatics' first anticipated product launch and beyond.

What You'll Do :
As an Executive Director, Payer Accounts, you will play a key role in supporting our commercial operations :
- Lead U.S. payer account strategy and execution across commercial and government segments to support launch and post-launch access for anzu-cel.
- Recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing team of payer account directors, ensuring national coverage of strategic payer targets and alignment with company goals.
- Build deep relationships with senior-level payer executives to inform and shape access decisions that align with anzu-cel's value proposition and patient access imperatives.
- Serve as the senior external face of Immatics to payer organizations, establishing the company as a collaborative, credible, and science-driven partner.
- Drive pull-through of value-based evidence and real-world data to support formulary decision-making, aligned with Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) and Medical Affairs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Commercial, HEOR, Government Affairs, Legal, Medical Affairs, and Regulatory to ensure payer strategies are aligned, compliant and integrated as appropriate across the organization.
- Anticipate and respond to healthcare policy changes, coverage environment shifts, and reimbursement trends with strategic foresight and agility.
- Help shape innovative reimbursement models and identify payer-level opportunities, including value-based contractsaligned with the complexity and promise of cell and gene therapies.
- Ensure all payer-facing engagements are aligned with Immatics' core value of putting patients first, particularly underserved patients battling advanced melanoma.
Secondary Functions :
Represent payer access strategies and insights to internal governance bodies and contribute to cross-functional planning, especially around launch readiness and lifecycle management.Serve as a key thought leader for access-focused conference panels, payer advisory boards, and health system engagements.Contribute to market shaping and health policy activities by informing evidence generation needs, pricing strategies, and coding solutions.Required Experience and Education :
Bachelor's degree required in healthcare, business, or public health.10+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, including 5+ years in payer account management or market access roles.Pre-commercial product launch experienceespecially in therapeutic categories with high (external) budget impact and obstacles to appropriate patient access to new, high-innovation therapies."Cultural Champion" who both advocates for themselves and their teambut also who subscribes to rolling up their sleeves and doing what needs to be done across the broader organization to be successful on behalf of patients.Prior involvement in PIE (Pre-Approval Information Exchange) and pre-launch value communication and market preparation activities.Proven leadership experience managing payer account teams with national and regional reach, preferably in oncology or specialty therapeutics.Acumen around leading integrated delivery networks and / or large academic medical centers more traditionally involved in supporting cell & gene therapy administration.Demonstrated success in negotiating access agreements with national payers, PBMs, and health systems, including experience with value-based arrangements.Strong grasp of U.S. reimbursement systems, payer decision-making processes, coverage policy development, and prior authorization criteria.In-depth understanding of health economics, outcomes research, and the evolving reimbursement landscape for high-innovation drugs.Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, capable of navigating complex, ambiguous payer environments with speed and precision.Preferred Experience and Education :
MBA, PharmD, MPH in healthcare, business, or public health preferred.Experience launching or supporting access for oncology assets (particularly melanoma) is strongly preferred.Familiarity with CMS, CMMI, and state Medicaid systems.Passion for building patient-centered access strategies that accelerate timely treatment for patients with high unmet need.Experience and aptitude for working for a US-based organization within a broader, global, ex-US Headquartered company.Competencies :

This position is remote and should be performed in an office setting that simulates the work office environment. This office must be set up in a way that allows for privacy and quiet during work hours, as well as a comfortable chair and desk. This position uses phone, computer, office equipment and supplies on a regular basis. Noise levels should be at a level which would allow for proper communication with other members virtually.
