Process Control Engineer

Cleveland-Cliffs has an immediate opening for multiple Process Control Engineers at our Indiana Harbor operation in East Chicago, Indiana. This role is critical to maintaining and improving the performance and reliability of our process control systems. The engineer will work with a wide range of industrial automation technologies, computer systems, and instrumentation to support steel manufacturing operations.

Summary of Responsibilities

• System Support bymaintaining and troubleshooting all aspects of process control systems, including hardware, software, and interfaces.
• Modify systems to accommodate new inputs or implement ideas for continuous improvement.
• Address issues that may impact production or system reliability.
• Oversee real-time computer control and monitoring of steel mill processes.
• Maintain and upgrade computer hardware and software, including modernization of existing systems.
• Administer operating systems such as Windows, OpenVMS, and Linux.
• Manage relational databases including Oracle, MySQL, and SQL Server.
• Work with networking technologies, including Cisco and Palo Alto, high-speed data transmission, and specialty computer interfaces.
• Develop, implement, and maintain computer models for mill processes involving chemical, metallurgical, or mechanical systems.
• Participate in project work, including planning, engineering design, hardware configuration, software development, testing, and system start-up.
• Stay informed of quality and reliability issues and work with vendors to address product and performance concerns.
• Remain current with advancements in industrial control technologies.
• Other duties as assigned.
