Description
The Field Safety Coordinator is responsible for supporting and promoting a culture of safety by conducting field inspections, leading training programs, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, MSHA, and other applicable safety regulations. This role will work closely with the Division Safety Manager, plant, shop, and mining site operations to provide technical expertise, evaluate risk, investigate incidents, and maintain accurate safety documentation and reporting.
Essential Functions of the Position :
- Perform regular compliance inspections at Plants, Mines and Shops
- Engage and respond to incidents and accidents in the field
- Conduct field training sessions and perform skills assessments with equipment operators
- Attend and participate in Safety meetings covering current topics and promoting the company culture
- Perform timely accident investigations in the field, reporting all findings and making recommendations
- Assist and support with MSHA and OSHA inspections providing documentation and training records
- Perform MSHA and OSHA training including annual refresher, new miner and new experienced miner
- Utilize Environmental Health and Safety management software platform and the Microsoft Office Suite
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS), to include safety inspections, incident reports, employee training records, and other related activities
- Assist in the preparation and distribution of materials, reports, and presentations
- Collaborate with the Safety Managers to implement and enforce safety policies, procedures, and guidelines across the organization
- Assist in risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with regulatory standards
- Compile and organize EHS data and statistics to generate reports and analyze trends
- Assist in developing strategies to improve performance based on data analysis and feedback
- Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding safety-related inquiries, concerns, and reporting of incidents
- Coordinate with various departments to ensure the timely implementation of safety initiatives and the resolution of safety-related issues
- Facilitate communication between the Managers and external stakeholders, such as regulatory agencies, vendors, and contractors
- Participate in safety committee meetings and contribute ideas for enhancing safety protocols and practices
- Stay updated on industry best practices, regulatory requirements, and emerging trends
Skills and Knowledge
Proven experience in administrative support roles, preferably in a safety or environmental related environmentFamiliarity with safety regulations, standards, and procedures (e.g., OSHA, EPA)Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectivelyExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals at all levels of the organizationProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with safety management software is a plusAttention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solvingAbility to diffuse and manage stressful situationsRequirements
High school diploma / GED and 2 years of experience in an administrative support functionPrevious industry or related experience preferredProficient computer skills including Microsoft Office SuiteAbility to work with or without supervisionPhysical Demands
