The Audiology Extern is responsible for applying didactic learning to the clinical setting under the mentorship and guidance of a fully credentialed and licensed audiologist. With support and guidance of the Audiologist, the Extern will provide diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services to inpatients and outpatients including assessment, treatment planning and implementation with related documentation. Patients of all ages, from newborn to geriatric, are part of the practice.

Care Delivery :
Receives referrals, screens and / or evaluates to determine the need for patient interventionInterprets evaluation findings and develops an appropriate treatment plan, including goal settingCarries out treatment plan and coordinates with patient, family, significant others, and care teamMonitors patient's response and modifies treatment to achieve goalsProvides input to improve patient or employee safety. Follows all policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines related to safetyDocuments the results of patient's assessment, treatment and follow-upReviews and analyzes quality appropriateness of the Audiology services delivered. Education : Actively enrolled as a 4th year student in an accredited audiology program.
Experience : Must read, write, speak, and comprehend English. Must be able to communicate effectively (written and orally) with people of diverse professional, educational and lifestyle backgrounds.
License(s) / Certification(s) : Must have a temporary license in the State of Iowa. Must submit results of praxis exam to the State
