We are seeking full-time Property Maintenance Engineers with the primary responsibility of general property level and building system maintenance and cleaning for Two properties located in the heart of Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood. The primary goal of the Engineer is to help deliver exceptional living experiences to community residents by maintaining the premises, common areas, recreational facilities (pool), and grounds, via the essential functions as outlined below. This position reports to the Property Manager and works directly with onsite team members to ensure the success of the property’s overall performance.
Position requires ability to transverse the property on foot, climb, lift up to 50 pounds, work on a ladder or elevated platform, and use cleaning supplies. Must be able to communicate, orally and in writing, with residential tenants, supervisors and co-workers. Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday, 8 : 00 AM – 5 : 00 PM, but may require occasional flexibility to work weekends and non-routine work hours in the event of urgent situations.
Your Mission
- Be the first line of defense for all maintenance and upkeep of the property such as Tenant maintenance request, common preventative maintenance, exterior and interior painting, basic carpentry and fixing drywall damages.
- Oversee general maintenance tasks (i.e. battery and light bulb replacement, window cleaning), repairs, improvement and renovations to units in a timely manner.
- Provide necessary upkeep to ensure appearance of the buildings and grounds are up to management and resident standards.
- Monitor and inspect buildings and grounds daily, ensuring rooftop furniture is set and tidy, reporting any needed repairs / replacements, and noting any unusual or extraordinary circumstances regarding the property and / or residents to Management
- Respond to employee and resident requests in a courteous and timely manner.
- Obtain through knowledge of management company policies and property community policies.
- Perform duties according to Occupations Safety & the Health Act (OSHA) standards and company safety policies at all times.
- Perform necessary plumbing (unclog drain lines), HVAC work (including preventative maintenance of washing compressors), and electrical repairs on items such as appliances, fixtures, switches, outlets, circuits, etc.
- Remove and transfers heavy appliances and equipment from storage area to apartment as needed.
- Clean common areas, at times, which may include lobby, fitness center, restrooms, break room, etc.
- Performs all other job-related duties and assignments as required.
