Our client is seeking a Safety Officer to lead health & safety initiatives across diverse operations including traffic control, pavement marking, custom fabrication, fleet management, and field projects. This role is critical in ensuring compliance, reducing risk, and fostering a culture of safety for employees, customers, and the traveling public.
What You’ll Do
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety programs in line with OSHA, DOT / FMCSA, TxDOT, and industry standards.
- Conduct audits of job sites, fabrication facilities, and fleet operations to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
- Lead employee safety orientations, toolbox talks, stand-downs, and specialized trainings (confined space, fall protection, PPE, work zone safety, heavy equipment).
- Investigate accidents and near misses; drive root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Monitor safety metrics (TRIR, DART, preventable accidents) and recommend improvements.
- Oversee fleet safety programs, driver compliance, inspections, and load securement practices.
- Coordinate emergency preparedness and serve as liaison with regulatory agencies.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s in Safety, Environmental Health, Construction Mgmt, or related field (preferred).3–5+ years of safety experience in construction, utilities, fleet, or heavy equipment industries.Knowledge of OSHA, TxDOT, MUTCD, FMCSA / DOT, and ANSI standards.Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CPR / First Aid, CSP, or CHST (preferred).Strong communication and training skills; bilingual (English / Spanish) a plus.Ability to travel statewide to project sites and facilities.
