Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair fire and security alarm systems across all District buildings, ensuring optimal functionality and code compliance.
- Program and manage the IFC 10 / 10 and 20 / 20 fire and security system databases District-wide, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and timely updates.
- Serve as a key liaison between contractors, Operations & Maintenance, school administrators, and facilities managers to oversee contractor performance, ensure high-quality system installations, and maintain alignment with District standards.
- Maintain detailed written documentation of all fire and security alarm system tests for every District facility, supporting compliance, accountability, and readiness for inspections.
- Regularly update and maintain fire alarm system drawings, point-to-point wiring documentation, and system performance reports to ensure accuracy for troubleshooting and planning.
- Provide expert-level technical support and hands-on training to administrative personnel, office staff, custodians, and maintenance teams on the operation and basic troubleshooting of fire and security systems.
- Clean and maintain smoke detector heads and carbon monoxide detectors to ensure proper functionality and reduce false alarms.
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain low-voltage (12V & 24V AC / DC) circuits supporting fire and security alarm systems.
- Collaborate with District electricians to provide assistance and support for electrical projects and troubleshooting as needed.
- Respond promptly to after-hours emergencies involving fire and security systems, ensuring a rapid and effective resolution.
- Conduct annual inspections and testing of all fire alarm systems in compliance with life safety codes and regulations.
- Address reports from South Metro Fire Rescue , taking swift corrective action on identified issues or deficiencies.
- Identify and correct all fire system deficiencies across District facilities to maintain system integrity, safety, and compliance with fire codes.
Qualifications
EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent
Licensing / CertificationMust maintain valid Colorado driver's license and meet District auto insurability requirement
CertificationDistrict fire alarm training certifications required within 12 months after hire
BackgroundCriminal background check required for hire
CertificationMinimum Level III National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technologies (NICET)
ExperienceOne year and up to and including 2 years of experience in fire and security alarm systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills , with proficiency in English; bilingual abilities (oral and written) are highly preferred.Interpersonal & customer service skills to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues, vendors, contractors, and the community.Calm and effective under pressure with professional handling of stressful situations.Computer proficiency including personal computing, keyboarding, and understanding hardware / software systems.Experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace applications; ability to learn new technologies.Office equipment knowledge (telephones, copiers, fax machines).Preferred at hireExperience operating, installing, supporting, and maintaining PCs and related software.

Physical Demands
The job requires lifting up to 74 lbs at times, frequent bending, crawling, climbing, and standing; extensive manual tasks and review of conditions across indoor / outdoor environments. Specific vision abilities are required. A detailed job analysis can be found internally.
