Description :

Candidates must not be full time, part time, or PRN with any associated facilities.

RNs are required to pass a skills exam during orientation.

A minimum score of 90% is necessary to avoid termination.

Driver's license is required for all candidates.

Artificial nails are prohibited for nurses providing patient care.

Failure to comply will result in termination of the contract.

The unit has 40 beds with an average daily census of 24 patients.

Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1 : 4-5 both days and nights.

Common patient diagnoses include cardiac medical / surgical, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, adult respiratory, stroke, and renal failure.

RNs are expected to titrate drips, including heparin, nitro, dopamine, cardizem, amiodarone, and insulin.

A charge nurse is present on each shift but will take an assignment as well.

Patient care techs are available on the unit, with a ratio of 1 : 12.

RNs must troubleshoot high flow respiratory equipment.

RNs are required to read and interpret telemetry strips.

Shifts are scheduled through an online system and may include weekend and holiday rotations.

Floating to med surg or ICU for PCU acuity patients is required.

The dress code is navy blue scrubs.

Additional notes : The unit prioritizes patient experience and responsiveness.

A successful nurse on this unit collaborates well within the team and is open to feedback.

The unit serves diverse cultural populations.

Requests for time off must be submitted upfront and are limited.

The hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per contract length.

Charting is done via an electronic medical record system.
