Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night Med / Surg role in Illinois, focused on care for stroke and post-op adult patients.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is on a 25-bed medical-surgical unit with 11 private and 7 semi-private rooms
  • Night shift schedule with requirement to work three 12-hour shifts per week
  • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 5-6 : 1 during night shifts
  • Primary patient population includes adult patients with strokes, post-operative needs, and hospice or comfort care
  • Care responsibilities include managing heparin drips, wound care, patients with chest tubes, feeding tubes, altered mental status, CIWA, AKI, dialysis, and COPD exacerbations
  • Every other weekend and holiday coverage is required
  • Acts as primary RN for five to six patients, with occasional responsibility for total-care patients
  • Expected to provide stroke care, post-operative care, and manage various medical conditions
  • Care team includes support to address comfort care and hospice needs
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position

  • Active Illinois RN license required
  • Current NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required
  • Prior experience in adult medical-surgical nursing is required
  • Ability to work night shifts and fulfill every other weekend and holiday commitments
