The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to join our team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Ideal candidates will have a background in mechatronics, electrical, or mechanical engineering, with a strong mix of practical electrical and mechanical skills and a foundation in basic programming.
This position involves the installation, commissioning, and aftermarket support of Rocklabs mining equipment systems. If you enjoy diagnosing complex systems, working hands on with advanced equipment, and building trusted customer relationships, you will feel right at home here.
Key Responsibilities :
- Perform Mechanical and Electrical servicing, preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Perform breakdown, fault finding, and emergency repair work as required - includes both Mechanical and Electrical.
- Assembling, installing, testing, calibrating, modifying, and repairing equipment and installations.
- Coordinate with sales, project and engineering teams to install, commission, and service Rocklabs sample preparation and automation systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, PLC, HMI, and robotics issues on-site.
- Deliver and provide preventive, corrective, and breakdown maintenance services for crushers, pulverisers, and laboratory devices for sample preparation laboratories.
- Provide Rocklabs mining equipment programming assistance :
Direct interaction with customers to assist and solve their system issues.
Recommend hardware and software upgrades.Basic understanding of ladder logic for troubleshooting purposes.Familiarity with mechatronics, PLCs and HMIs.Provide on-the-job training and technical assistance to customers.Prepare detailed service reports, cost estimates, and maintain accurate records.What We Are Looking For :
Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics or Engineering, or a combination of education and equivalent experience.A minimum of 5 years of experience with PLCs and Structured Text programming preferred.Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 75 percent of the time.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Self-motivated, confident, and professional in dealing with customers.Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).Experience conducting training, resolving system issues, and promoting solutions.Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical schematics, and proficiency with multimeters and basic hand tools.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces.5 or more years of service-related field experience, ideally with automation or laboratory or mining equipment.About Scott
