Interim Library Director - Palisades Park Public Library

The Palisades Park Public Library seeks an experienced Interim Library Director to guide our library through an important transitional period. As a member of the Bergen County Cooperative Library System (BCCLS), the library is committed to providing excellent services, resources, and programs to meet the educational, informational, and recreational needs of our vibrant and diverse community.

The Library Director oversees an annual budget of approximately $1,400,000. They will also communicate with the Board of Trustees to ensure the capital plan progresses, budgeted for approximately $1,000,000. The Interim Director will support the Library Board of Trustees through a period of transition, and maintain daily operations by overseeing a staff of twenty.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide leadership during a transitional period, fostering a positive culture of change and excellence.
• Oversee library operations, ensuring alignment with the library’s mission and goals.
• Manage the annual budget with fiscal responsibility.
• Recruit, supervise, and evaluate staff, encouraging professional growth.
• Collaborate with the Library Board of Trustees to develop policies and a vision.
• Maintain and enhance the library’s physical and digital spaces.
• Train and educate Library Trustees and staff on library policies and procedures.
• Ensure accurate reporting and compliance with New Jersey State Library laws.
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to refine services, programs, and community outreach.
