JOB DESCRIPTION :
GENERAL NATURE OF POSITION :
The Automation Engineer responsibilities include supporting and implementing project requiring high levels of automation. The AE will provide engineering support from the writing of equipment business requirements through the bidding process and eventual implementation of each project. The AE must view projects through a strategic lens assessing the impact on the Deckers network.
To be a successful Automation Engineer you should be able to derive insights from large amounts of data that support and guide optimal project performance. You should also be meticulous when it comes to preparing documentation and reports.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to project planning, budgeting and overall strategy
- Conduct and present feasibility analyses for proposed projects
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
- Monitor and evaluate the overall project
- Analyze project data and produce insights to optimize performance
- Identify project shortfalls and recommend remediation opportunities
- Provide operational support such as liaising with stakeholders, tracking timelines, etc.
- Prepare, review and maintain project documentation and reports
- Maintain project contracts and financial performance
- Partner with Operations leadership to drive improvements that benefit the customer experience
- Troubleshoot equipment failures and determine corrective actions to undertake
- Provide in-depth analysis to identify improvement opportunities
- Managing compliance with audits and certifications
- Support environmental sustainability efforts in line with corporate goals
Qualifications
Education / Certifications :
A Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is preferred.3-5 years experience in all phases of implementing complex automation solutions.Experience with stakeholder and financial management and ROI calculationsLean Six Sigma experienceWork Experience :
3-5 years of experience in the coordination and implementation of complex projects.3-5 years of experience optimizing fulfillment and distribution warehouse operations.Knowledge and or working experience with automation (Autostore, Exotec, Caja).Experience in facility and process redesign and implementation.Skills / Competencies :
Strong leadership skills with the ability to positively influence others.Strong organizational, management, and supervisory skillsDemonstrated ability to expedite several projects simultaneously.Proficient in Microsoft ApplicationsAbility to effectively prepare and present information and respond to questions from management, clients, and other employees of the organization.Exceptional attention to detailSets plans & objectives, clearly monitors their progress through completion.Excellent verbal, written communication skillsAbility to multi-task in a fast-paced environmentPhysical Demands
