As a tutor on the Varsity Tutors Platform, you’ll have the flexibility to set your own schedule, earn competitive rates, and make a real impact on students’ learning journeys—all from the comfort of your home.

What We Look For In a Tutor

  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging teaching style.
  • Expertise in High School Level American Literature and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
  • Ability to personalize lessons and adapt to different learning styles.
  • Priority given to those with tutoring experience, teaching experience, and graduate-level education.

Compensation and How You’re Paid

  • Base contract rates start at $18 / hour and increase for specialized subjects. You can earn incrementally higher pay for each session with the same student—reaching up to $40 / hour.
  • Get paid up to twice per week, ensuring fast and reliable compensation for tutoring sessions you conduct and invoice.
