The Opportunity
The EDI Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless exchange of electronic data between Marketlab and its trading partners. This position is responsible for developing, programming, monitoring, and maintaining the EDI systems and processes. Marketlab is currently transitioning from Microsoft Dynamics Solomon ERP to NetSuite by Oracle. As Marketlab continues its ERP implementation project, the EDI Engineer is instrumental in integrating and testing systems to ensure a smooth transition. This role will also lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance automation and modernize communications with vendors and customers. This role reports to the IT Manager on the IT Team.
Functional / Technical Competencies
- Data Analytics & Reporting - Utilizes data analytics tools to collect, analyze, and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to improve business decision making.
- Project Management & Execution - Manages IT projects such as system upgrades, software implementations, or infrastructure improvements from initiation through to completion.
- Collaboration & Cross Functional Communication - Works closely with cross functional teams (e.g., operations, supply chain, HR) to ensure that IT systems support business processes and goals.
- Automation & Process Optimization - Identifies opportunities to implement IT solutions for automating manual tasks and processes within manufacturing, inventory management, and distribution.
- Enterprise System Integration - Proficient in integrating various enterprise software and systems (e.g., ERP, WMS, MES) to ensure smooth data flow across manufacturing, inventory, distribution, and finance functions.
What You'll Do
Administration of the EDI platformsManagement of the Customer / Supplier onboarding processDevelop and maintain EDI maps, including translation rules, processes, and workflowsMonitor and troubleshoot EDI transactions, resolving issues to ensure accurate data transmissionManage relationships with EDI platform providers, trading partners, and cross-functional teamsEnsure compliance with EDI protocols (ANSI X12, EDIFACT, AS2, SFTP, VAN)Lead continuous improvement initiatives to automate EDI processes and modernize communicationMaintain AS2 & SFTP systems and ensure secure, reliable data exchangeProvide technical support for EDI and ERP systems, including training internal usersCollaborate with business stakeholders to develop technical solutions for business needsCreate and maintain technical and user-level documentationConduct regular data audits to ensure compliance with governance policies and data accuracyWhat You'll Need
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent experienceMastery of the Cleo CIC Platform, certification strongly preferred5+ years of EDI experience, including ANSI X12, EDIFACT, AS2, SFTP, and related protocols5+ years administering EDI platforms, including GHX, SPS Commerce, or similarStrong understanding of ERP and warehouse management systems, with experience in distribution and manufacturing environmentsExperience with scripting technologies (Python, Bash, etc)Experience with managing projects, and a working knowledge of project management tools and approachesExperience with NetSuite, specifically the Order to Cash and Plan to Procure process areas. Knowledge of NS Saved Searches, maintaining various cross references, and trouble-shooting in NetSuite will be requiredAbility to work with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex EDI issues and ensure system reliabilityStrong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize competing tasksValues And Traits

This role may offer remote work opportunities. A stable internet connection is required, as well as the ability to participate in video meetings and on-site visits to Grand Rapids, MI.
