The Director of Athletics is responsible for all administrative aspects of the athletic department, including, but not limited to : direct supervision of men’s and women’s teams, the Associate Athletic Director, the Assistant Athletic Director, Recruitment Coordinator, Athletic Trainers (and training program / contract), the Sports Information Director, Coaches, Assistant Coaches and Student Employees. S / he also oversees the academic enrichment program, faculty representative, event and game scheduling, sports clinics, public relations and fiscal management of the Department. Finally, the Athletic Director is responsible for ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations for the Department as established by the University, the United East Conference, and the NCAA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for all athletic department operations including : budgeting, NCAA and United East compliance, student-athlete eligibility, recruiting, equipment procurement / maintenance, team travel, transportation / vehicle maintenance, promotion of the program, sports clinics and the student-athlete academic enrichment program.
• Oversees athletic department personnel including but not limited to : Associate Director of Athletics, Assistant Director of Athletics, Recruitment Coordinator, Sports Information Director, Compliance Officer, Head Athletic Trainer / Asst. Athletic Trainer, Head Coaches / Assistant Coaches, Student-Athletes, and Student Employees.
• Hiring, onboarding, supervision and evaluation of all direct reports.
• Maintains the Student-Athlete Handbook and provide training to staff and students regarding the policies, procedures and practices contained therein.
• Serve as the athletic department liaison to Enrollment Management regarding recruitment of prospective student-athletes in conjunction with the Recruitment Coordinator.
• Assist Student Life with special events including but not limited to : Orientation, Commencement, Late Night Breakfast and Student Appreciation Celebrations. The Director also oversees major departmental programming including weekly sporting events, Midnight Madness and the Athletic recognition ceremonies.
• Serves as a mentor to coaches and student-athletes.
• Oversee the management of the Fitness Center and Weight Room.
• Oversee the purchasing and management of athletic equipment (including uniforms) as well as facilities upgrades and renovations.
• Develop new programs as required.
• Other duties as assigned.

Salary Range : $70,000 - $82,000
