Job Overview
The Risk Management Country Senior Group Manager manages multiple teams. Requires in-depth understanding of how own sub-function contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the commercial objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of the function within the relevant part of the business, combined with a solid conceptual / practical grounding in both the function and / or area of expertise and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication / negotiation may be necessary. Responsible for executing functional strategy in area managed. Determines approach to implementing functional strategy. Accountable for end results, budgeting, planning, policy formulation and contribution to future strategy of the area(s). Impact reflects size of team managed, strategic influence on the business and interaction with other functions or businesses. Typically, a direct report to a C16 role and function as an integral member of the functional leadership team within a country / site location, job family, or line of business.
The overall objective is to oversee the review and challenge of country risk tools, including sovereign ratings, Watchlist, Country and Franchise Reviews, strategic actions, and scenario forecasts.
Responsibilities
- Leads in analyzing global and country-level economic and political developments for assessing sovereign creditworthiness and the risk of a crisis.
- Oversees the process of determining country risk ratings, Watchlist status, scenario planning, and stress testing on a country or regional basis to minimize credit losses.
- Contributes to the 2LOD review and challenge of country risk limits.
- Makes crucial decisions on risk / return trade-offs associated with strategic decisions.
- Oversees the review and challenge of firmwide economic forecasts.
- Directs the analysis of the impact of changes in macroeconomic indicators on portfolio / business performance.
- Oversees the analysis and presentation of topical developments in individual countries, regions, or the global economy, as needed.
- Sets the strategic direction for stress testing the impact of risk on portfolio value and capital and advises the business accordingly.
- Serves as the primary point of escalation for key issues or time-sensitive decisions.
- Leads in building partnerships across functions and regions and sustains a network of client relationships.
- Serves as a single point of contact for franchise-level risk matters relating to the businesses operating in the country, and for providing risk management partnership to Citi Country Officers (CCOs) and Risk Management Country Officers (RMCOs) and cluster business and risk heads.
- Mentors and coaches team members and contributes to their development as a role model.
- Represents Citi on critical regulatory matters as required and directs the implementation of related remediation.
- Ensures strict adherence to all relevant Citi policies and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
15+ years of experienceExperience as a Credit Officer or in Credit Risk management preferredBachelor's degree. Master's degree or above preferred.Experience managing teams.Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage several large programs simultaneouslyKnowledge of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and typologiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills. Developed presentation skills with the ability to articulate complex problems and solutions through concise and clear messagingAbility to interact and communicate effectively with senior leadersSignificant knowledge and expertise of Compliance laws, rules, regulations, risks and appropriate controlsExperience in the design and implementation of Compliance programs
