Job Description
Base pay range : $138,000.00 / yr - $185,000.00 / yr. Location : Cary, North Carolina (onsite). Project Site : Clayton, NC (onsite). Per Diem / Out-of-Town Living (OTL) available for qualified non-local candidates. Position : Process Piping Superintendent to join the Project Delivery and Construction team. You will lead specific construction site activities, including specific trades, and manage parts of the field operations on projects. You will support the Project Director, Project Manager, and Construction Manager for oversight of work progress, subcontractor manpower, and coordination between trades. You will help ensure subcontractor and vendor work is completed safely and in compliance with contract documents and project schedule.
Responsibilities
- Collect and assemble on-site testing reports, inspection reports, and Construction Completion Records for close-out documentation to the IPS Commissioning / Validation team and client.
- Assume primary responsibility for activities associated with specific trades on assigned construction sites.
- Lead assigned vendors and subcontractors to meet project goals.
- Ensure safety objectives and corporate goals are achieved on assigned projects.
- Ensure projects meet applicable quality requirements.
- Interact with clients on site and promote positive relationships.
- Support the Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Senior Superintendent in the development and maintenance of preconstruction, construction, and closeout execution plans.
- Support development and maintenance of project schedules, including activities lists, durations, and sequencing logic.
- Develop working knowledge of the project budget for assigned trades and identify exceptions to the budget throughout execution.
- Support change control documentation and related financial documentation.
- Oversee the work of assigned vendors and subcontractors to ensure quality compliance.
- Participate in constructability reviews of design documents.
- Support procurement and coordination of required resources.
- Conduct pre-bid walk-through and descope meetings with the Project Director, Project Manager, Construction Manager, and Senior Superintendent.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor invoices and requests for payment against actual performance.
- Manage subcontractor and vendor field time-and-material (T&M) change requests and assess contractual legitimacy and cost estimates.
- Facilitate communication between subcontractors, vendors, and project personnel, and document communications.
- Support the Request for Information (RFI) process.
- Perform periodic site inspections and report results; produce daily site condition reports including weather and safety issues.
- In coordination with IPS Health and Safety Professionals, review job safety analysis documentation as required.
- Coordinate meetings with trade subcontractors and ensure timely submittal distribution, review, and storage to meet project requirements.
- Review submittals to meet project requirements and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee startup and commissioning activities for assigned trades if included in the project scope.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
10+ years of experience in process piping within industrial construction (life sciences, pharma, biotech, food and beverage, or high-purity environments).Proven track record overseeing the installation of clean / sanitary process piping systems (including stainless steel and high-purity systems).Experience managing orbital welding crews and contractors (hands-on welding experience is a plus but not required).Knowledge of Navisworks for model review, clash detection, and coordination; AutoCAD / BIM experience also valued.Ability to read and interpret P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams).Experience managing subcontractors, crews, and construction schedules on large-scale projects.Experience in GMP / cGMP environments and understanding of life sciences facility requirements (clean rooms, labs, manufacturing plants).Strong field safety leadership; current OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.Bilingual (English / Spanish) strongly preferred — ability to communicate with Spanish-speaking trades and subcontractors.Physical Demands

Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments with varying working conditions.Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol.Travel
Travel up to 25% or as required by the assigned project.You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period; overnight travel or staying in the client location city may be required.Review IPS Travel Policy; you will visit construction sites and must complete site safety training and adhere to site safety rules.Must have access to reliable transportation and the ability to travel on a routine basis.Work schedule may require flexibility, including availability to work 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts, as well as weekends.Safety
