ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Leadership
Provide leadership for the Project Team (multi-discipline engineering and design team) which is described as timely decision-making, inspirational presence, personal and team level accountability and responsibility, integrity, effective maintenance of open and forthright communications with others, and transparency of motivation and action.
Establish and reinforce a Project Team identity, vision, and purpose that is consistent with the objectives of the entire organization.
Establish clear goals and sets direction / vision for individual projects and project team members. Is self-confident, competent, assertive, and decisive.
Resolve team conflicts in a straightforward, positive and professional manner.
Role models collaborative leadership by building strong and productive relationships with other project managers to ensure the overall success of the organization and the team.
Team Management
Responsible for overall performance of a Project Team.
Organize, oversee, and manage the work of the engineers and designers working on his / her Project Team to meet individual project schedule and budget requirements.
Perform timely employee evaluations providing detailed goals and objectives for Engineers and Designers. Coordinate with discipline engineering managers to ensure professional development of team members. . Provide input in hiring and dismissal of Engineers and Designers.
Project Management
Competent and well-versed in the general principles of project management, including project scoping / initiation, project budget development, project planning and scheduling, project controls, project execution, and project close-out.
Timely and thorough in developing clear work plans, ensuring the Project Team has a clear scope and plan, managing project change, tracking project progress, and executing project requirements. Manage project schedules using a deliverables based approach.
Responsible for overall financial performance of your projects.
Technical Leadership
Exhibit multi-discipline technical knowledge along with the willingness to engage with and challenge the engineers and designers working on projects to steer projects technically, and ensure timely technical decision-making. Able to weigh pro’s and con’s of various technical decision points in a multi-discipline environment. Ensures efficient coordination of all engineering disciplines on a project. Able to inform the client regarding key technical elements of projects, and implications of client goals and thought processes on overall project cost, schedule, and complexity.

Independently work to develop professionally by expanding knowledge of one’s field, developing new skills, or strengthening one’s abilities. Is expected to strive to achieve professional engineering registration.
Client Management
Effectively manage client expectations through effective communication of project procedures manual, control and communication of change management, and effective use of project communication channels. Is primary corporate liaison responsible for ensuring client satisfaction while achieving corporate objectives.
Responsible for ensuring timely receipt of payment of invoices from your project’s clients.
Software Utilization
Is expected to become expert in the proper use of project management software tools. Exhibit proficiency in the use of general office software packages.
Possess a basic understanding of the limitations and capabilities of the software packages utilized by engineers and designers within the Project Team.
Standards and Procedures
Is responsible for ensuring that corporate standards and procedures are implemented in the execution of projects.
Field / Site Skills
Follow all company safety standards in the field.
Support field with installation, field inquiries and construction.
Able to independently apply engineering and systems knowledge to the assessment, evaluation, start-up and optimization of working systems.
Job Proficiency
Exhibit good time management skills, the ability to think and assess project challenges independently, and the ability to learn from past experiences and improve future performance on related tasks. Display the ability to coordinate the work and activities of a discipline project team, to provide clear technical direction and support to their work, and to manage the group’s technical processes towards the overall project objectives.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES :
Continually look for opportunities to improve corporate processes and procedures
Maintain or Obtain Professional Engineering License.
May act as lead discipline engineer on projects
Coaching and mentoring of employees

SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / TRAINING REQUIRED :
Education, BS in related Engineering field
Minimum of 10 years of increasing levels of responsibility in the power / energy industry’s plant operations and / or detailed engineering and design field
Engineering and design experience with fossil fuel thermal power plants using various technologies / prime movers
Engineering and design experience with renewable energy power plants a plus
Power Plant operations experience a plus
Proficiency in use of job applicable software
WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS :
Occasional climbing, bending, standing and lifting
Occasional work in noisy or unpleasant areas different from typical office
Occasional travel and extended work off-site
