Property Manager – Affordable Housing

About the Role
Join a mission-driven team committed to providing quality, affordable housing in the Madison area. We’re seeking a proactive, resident-focused Property Manager to oversee the daily operations of a portfolio of affordable housing communities. This leadership role is hands-on : you’ll ensure properties are well-maintained, budgets are met, compliance requirements are achieved, and residents feel valued and supported.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all aspects of operations—maintenance, leasing, tenant relations, and vendor coordination—across multiple affordable housing properties.
- Prepare and manage annual operating budgets, monitor expenses, and optimize revenue while keeping affordability front and center.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, inspections, and capital improvement projects to keep buildings in excellent condition year-round
- Lead and mentor on-site staff, fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture.
- Ensure full compliance with local, state, and federal housing regulations, including HUD, LIHTC, and other affordable housing program requirements.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with residents to enhance satisfaction, retention, and community engagement.
Qualifications
3+ years of property management experience, ideally within affordable, subsidized, or mixed-income housing.Working knowledge of HUD / LIHTC or other affordable housing program compliance and reporting.Strong financial acumen with experience creating and managing budgets.Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.Familiarity with property management software and MS Office Suite.Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies and manage seasonal maintenance needs (snow removal, fall prep, etc.).Why Join Us
