Director, Legal Obie And Corporate Communications Systems Ai & Digital Innovation
The Director, Legal, Office of Business Integrity & Ethics (OBIE) and Corporate Communications Systems AI & Digital Innovation will be the Technology Business Engagement Leader for Legal, OBIE, and Corporate Communications and will lead a team responsible for architecture, design, development, support, maintenance, and future roadmaps for their respective systems. The systems and technologies will include but will not be limited to : iManage, CounselLink, Simpplr, PoliteMail, Jasper.ai.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Partner with business stakeholders across Legal / Compliance, Corporate Communications to manage and prioritize the enterprise applications technology portfolio and continually build the future roadmap.
- Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders - become a trusted partner and have an ongoing, significant impact towards meeting strategic business goals.
- Present ideas and forward-looking plans to, and engage directly with, cross-functional senior leaders on a regular basis.
- Direct and lead a group of two Vertex team members, plus a federated externally managed services team supporting each of the platforms.
- Oversee a portfolio of projects, programs, releases, and system enhancements, assuring quality and timeliness of delivery while remaining within allocated budget limits.
- Proactively offers innovative technologies, solution ideas, and potential business process improvements in pursuit of driving efficiencies and meeting business needs.
- Enhance and improve internal processes and procedures related to demand management, resource management, project delivery, platform releases, and ongoing operational support.
- Manage relationships with our strategic software vendors and service providers.
- Provide day-to-day support and maintenance for Workday, Cornerstone, and other applications, ensuring maximum uptime, high performance, and excellent customer service.
- Work closely with DTE (Data Technology & Engineering) Compliance, Internal Audit, Quality Assurance, or other groups as needed to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and GxP regulations, as well as our DTE system lifecycle and change management requirements.
- Partner closely with other DTE functions and teams when necessary to deliver on the business roadmap.
- Lead the development and deployment of legal, OBIE, and corporate communications systems, including AI-powered tools to best support internal and external communications.
- Drive innovation in platforms to enhance operational intelligence, reporting, and strategic enablement across Legal, OBIE, and Communications functions.
- Champion the use of generative AI, natural language processing, and machine learning to automate workflows, improve decision-making, and enhance user experience.
- Oversee vendor selection, implementation, and performance of legal and communications technologies.
- Ensure systems and processes comply with global data privacy, security, and legal standards.
- Lead change management efforts to drive adoption of new technologies and ways of working across Legal and Communications teams.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on emerging legal, OBIE, or corporate communications tech and communications trends, influencing enterprise-wide digital strategy.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and collaboration across the department.
Knowledge and Skills
Deep expertise in legal operations, compliance systems, and corporate communications platforms.Advanced understanding of AI technologies and their application in legal and communications domains.Strong grasp of regulatory frameworks, risk assessment, and data governance.Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence senior stakeholders.Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into strategic business value.Experience with enterprise platforms such as iManage, CounselLink, Simpplr, PoliteMail, Jasper.ai.Demonstrated ability to drive change, foster innovation, and lead high-performing teams.Strategic thinking with a continuous improvement mindset and business acumen.Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Law, Communications, Information Systems, or related discipline.Typically requires 10+ years of experience in legal operations, compliance, or communications systems, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Supervisory experience required.JD, MBA, or advanced degree preferred.Pay Range : $190,400 - $285,600
