Adjunct instructors are primarily responsible for instruction and classroom / student maintenance.
Requirements :
2-4+ years of professional experience
Doctorate Degree in Plant Pathology, Agricultural Education, or Plant Genetics is required
Responsibilities :
Attend weekly feedback meetings with assigned EU administrator (Dean of Academic Affairs, Academic Advisor, or Program Director) to review student and classroom issues
Maintain accurate attendance records (daily and weekly)
Make phone calls to students who have been absent
Review and administer pre- and post-testing in all appropriate courses
Administer required surveys and assessments in all appropriate courses
Notify registrar of changes in the class roster
Prevent students who are not cleared from entering the class
Maintain a fair and accurate grading scheme for each student
Adhere to all University policies, rules, and regulations
Maintain formal, neat, legible, accurate, and organized course syllabi
Update attendance and grades regularly; ensure physical student records are kept on campus in the designated area
Conduct classes according to scheduled times
Minimize breaks and avoid dismissing classes early
Arrive at least 20 minutes before class starts, fully prepared
Be available to students 15 minutes before class for questions and advising
Submit grades by Monday 5pm EST after each term
Ensure student compliance with University policies
Attend graduation ceremonies if possible
Maintain classrooms in a clean and orderly manner
Motivate, encourage, and assist students academically and with attendance
Keep current and accurate information related to the subjects taught
Complete annual professional development plans
Tutor students as needed
Follow all applicable safety, health, and conduct laws and regulations
