Admission Job Description

Entry level position, responsible for recruitment and evaluation of prospective students. This position supports all recruitment and yield programs, on-campus and virtually; other duties as assigned by the dean of admission.

Take appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participate in the college's efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Recruitment (40%) :

• Develop extensive knowledge about Smith College and present on-campus and / or virtual information sessions regularly
• Plan and coordinate approximately 6 - 8 weeks of travel annually to recruit students and manage an assigned geographic territory
• Develop knowledge secondary schools throughout in an assigned recruitment territory, visit secondary schools, attend college fairs as assigned
• Initiate and maintain effective communication between Smith College and college counselors from a diverse range of high schools
• Manage correspondence and conversations with students, parents, counselor, community-based organizations and other constituencies
• Contribute to office initiatives as assigned, which may include project-based work under supervisor guidance

Some weekend and evening hours required throughout the year.

Position Minimum Requirements :

Bachelor's Degree, 0-1 years experience, Driver's License, Willing to fly, Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

Skills :

The ability to effectively and efficiently develop and execute several key projects simultaneously. Must be able to work independently, have strong organizational and planning skills, and excellent writing and oral communication skills. This position requires strong analytical and technological skills including familiarity with MS Office, Google Suite and ability to learn Slate CRM and Workday systems. Must have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to work as part of a team, and use sound judgement.

Preferred Qualifications :

Previous experience in a higher education environment; fluency with a variety of computer software platforms; Demonstrated interest in admission work. Prior work or volunteer experience in an office of admission at a college or university preferred.
