About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to oversee operations in our mechanical fabrication shop. The Project Manager will be responsible for managing multiple projects from planning through completion, ensuring schedules, budgets, quality standards, and client requirements are met. This role requires strong technical knowledge of piping fabrication, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to coordinate between shop personnel, field teams, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day project activities in the fabrication shop, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure accurate fabrication and timely delivery of piping systems.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and codes to ensure compliance with client requirements and industry standards.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, track progress, and report on milestones and deliverables.
- Manage budgets, cost tracking, and change orders to maintain financial control of projects.
- Supervise shop personnel and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to safety, quality, and productivity standards.
- Communicate regularly with clients, providing updates, addressing concerns, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Implement quality assurance and quality control processes, including inspections and documentation.
- Drive continuous improvement in shop efficiency, material utilization, and workflow processes.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and applicable codes (ASME, API, etc.).
Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).5+ years of experience in project management, preferably in manufacturing, piping fabrication, mechanical construction, or heavy industrial projects.Strong understanding of manufacturing, piping systems, fabrication methods, welding processes, and material standards.Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or equivalent).Knowledge of codes, standards, and practices (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, etc.).Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.Preferred Skills
Experience with ERP / MRP systems for shop production and inventory management.Familiarity with BIM, CAD drawings, and spool tracking software.Strong safety background with OSHA 30 or equivalent.Why Horwitz?
